We are woman owned small business based in beautiful Montclair, NJ. Our stationery is printed right here in the USA and every order is carefully packaged and assembled from our studio.

How it all started !

Hello! ..... This is the journey of a menswear designer pursuing the love of paper, color  and textiles. 

Here is my story.  I grew up in the textile-rich culture in India, and from an early age I was surrounded by textile arts. My mom and aunts in their free time were always sewing clothes, mending, embroidering or crocheting. 

It was only natural that I ended up in fashion although I never thought I would design Menswear. The clean lines and no frills (literally) of menswear appealed to me. I designed several brands in India and New York for over 20 years and dreamed of launching my own brand. 

Although fabric and sewing was a big part of my upbringing, I always loved making my own greeting cards, making wrapping paper out of newspaper or experimenting with paper crafts. Embroidery on paper felt like a perfect combination of both worlds. I started selling embroidered cards and artwork on Etsy and local craft shows and that is how Mellowworks started. 

My explorations in paper embroidery evolved into printed cards and wrapping paper and I enjoyed the limitless possibility of using bright color combinations and prints on stationery. And I can't wait to try these colorful prints on new products- Maybe home furnishings, wall paper ??? There is so much to learn and explore !
